چکیده
CASEREPORT A 53-year-old female presented with sudden onset of pallor and decreased sensation of the right hand and forearm, without loss of power. She had rheumatoid arthritis for the last 30 years, and had been using axillary crutches for the last 10 years. She had undergone bilateral knee and left hip replacements. There were no other significant cardiovascular risk factors, nor any previous history of deep venous thrombosis or miscarriages suggesting a hypercoagulable state. She was a non-smoker. On examination, she was in normal sinus rhythm. Both hands showed classical deformities ofburnt out rheumatoid arthritis. The right hand was cold and pale, with delayed capillary return. Sensation was impaired over the fingers. Right brachial, ulnar and radial pulses were absent.

Axillary Artery Injury Associated with Proximal Humerus Fracture: A Report of 6 Cases
Proximal humerus fractures are common, but associated injury of the axillary artery is uncommon. The majority of published blunt traumatic axillary artery injuries are associated with anterior glenohumeral dislocation; a few are associated with isolated proximal humerus fractures or fracture-dislocation. Experience within our institution demonstrates that axillary artery injury is often unreco...
متن کاملAxillary artery injury with proximal humerus epiphyseal separation: a rare case report
Fracture of the proximal humerus associated with vascular injury has rarely been reported in children, and only two cases have been reported in the literature. In adults this combination has been reported more frequently. We present the case of a 14 year old boy with proximal humeral epiphyseal separation and axillary artery injury.
متن کاملAneurysm of Brachial Artery Following Axillary Crutch
Dear Editor, True aneurysm of brachial artery, just distal to axillary artery, is relatively rare. Moreover, this type of aneurysm following usage of axillary crutch has not reported in the literature. Furthermore, this entity presenting as Reynaud’s disease has not been described; though microemboli following subclavio-axillary artery aneurysm (arterial thoracic outlet syndrome) is well-define...
متن کاملCrutch-induced bilateral brachial artery aneurysms.
A 57-year-old man, who was a chronic axillary crutch user as a result of childhood poliomyelitis, was referred to our hospital because of a sudden onset of right forearm ischemia. The right forearm had no pulse, and three-dimensional computed tomography (3DCT) showed an aneurysm of the right brachial artery associated with arterial occlusion. The thrombosed aneurysm of the brachial artery was r...
متن کاملAnalysis of crutch position in the horizontal plane to confirm the stability of the axillary pad for safe double-crutch walking
[Purpose] The aim of this study was to analyze the crutch position in the horizontal plane to confirm the stability of the axillary pad during double-crutch walking. [Subjects] Twelve healthy young subjects (6 males and 6 females). [Methods] The subjects were asked to walk in a straight line, using double crutches, for a distance of 5 m, 5 times. Crutch position data were obtained using four in...
